I am stuck in Winter Wonderland right now - believe me, it looks much nicer in pictures than it feels in real life. Can't wait to get back to the Middle East and warmer temperatures.
Talking of winter wonderland - a few weeks ago on a Friday I woke up and crawled downstairs for my first "fix" of coffee. We have shutters on our windows and they were closed upstairs so I couldn't see out, but the kitchen shutters are always kept open. As I came into the kitchen a whole new world was in front of me.
Snow! In Rome... for the first time since 1982!
I rushed about taking photos and am putting a couple here - it lasted all of one day by evening it had competely disappeared but oh, the sheer magic as I opened the windows to take the photos (it was about 8 a.m.) and how I wish I could have bottled or canned the sound of the voices of excited children on their ways to school many who had never seen snow before ........... "Che Beeeelllllooo Che Bello..."

Ohhhh such nice contrast, that snow and those spring flowers
Very, very nice Karen. I can just imagine those kids voices of excitement after seeing snow 'in real' for the very first time... It Is A Sin To Kill In God's Name
Sorry not to be around much these days, but duty calls - you know the kind of thing
Wanted to show you this though. A couple of weeks ago (although it seems like months longer!) my husband and I went to Gubbio, which is a medieval town in the hills of Umbria - very pretty - also very huff and puff stuff! i.e. situated on a VERY steep hill! Umbria is famous for, amongst other things, tartufo - or maybe you know them as truffles. We stopped by a little shop near our hotel to buy some goodies and my husband started to giggle when he saw the counter display in the shop and drew my attention to it.
This is what we saw
The name "Palle del Nonno" literally means "Grandpa's balls" (and we are not referring to anything close to football here)
while "Coglioni di Mulo" means Mule's bollocks - coglioni also being used here as a colloquial term to mean "w.....r".
Of course they weren't made of anything of the sort......
On the way to Gubbio we stopped off at a place called San Gemini for lunch. This is a picture I took outside the restaurant looking back at the way we came. As you can see, some stupendous views around there!
