Stories of being a white socialite and aspiring writer and about two black maids and how their lives intertwined during the early 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi.
There is a lot of civil rights stuff, including the assassination of Medgar Evers and it also includes how the assassination of John Kennedy affected life in Jackson from white and black perspectives.
I needed a book to keep me awake while on my trip to and from California. I did the listening thing - 15 CDs. The book is long and detailed.
For somebody who was just a kid during that era, it was still not easy to relive what I just had heard peripherally on the evening news. Back then, we only had a single channel where I lived and TV was black and white when you could tune stuff in.

Hope you enjoy the rest. I'm starting to regret ever being or agreeing to do admin. I hate offending anybody.
